Glosten is seeking an entry-level naval architect to join our team in Seattle, WA or Providence, RI. Glosten is a naval architecture and marine engineering firm that has served the marine industry for over 60 years. We work in teams to accomplish exciting projects in a stimulating, fast-paced, and collegial environment.

Glosten is looking for Naval Architects to apply practical engineering skills to design new vessels, develop modifications to improve existing vessels, and help clients solve unique problems in marine environments. Both entry level and experienced applicants are desired.

Education and Certification:

  • Are expected to graduate in spring term 2023 with a minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a background in marine structures, hydrostatics, and hydrodynamics (required).
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.


  • Specific technical knowledge of hydrostatics, stability, and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity and general knowledge of vessel systems, computational methods, and design processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, GHS, Python, and Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Shipboard, shipyard, or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with and motivation to build client relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and teams, meeting scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Demonstrated application of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a group environment, both in person and remotely.
  • Excellent time management, planning, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States. Due to project restrictions, Glosten will only consider applicants with unrestricted access to work in the United States or those eligible for TN visas.
  • Some travel and fieldwork are required. Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.
